This would allow them to be carried in a grenade pouch and lit/thrown in a game. They worked, however the amount of smoke given off by them is minimal when outside outdoors in comparison to proper pyrotechnic smoke grenades (which I have used at games in the UK and NI) and they are not safe for use indoors.
